BWRA History

The BWRA was founded in 2011 and incorporated in 2012 in response to the proposed re-development of the Bedford Park United Church at 100 Ranleigh Ave.  The BWRA worked with the Church, the City of Toronto, a private developer and with Councillor Jaye Robinson over the course of five years to achieve a big win for the community — the City agreed to buy the land for public space in December 2016.

The experience of 100 Ranleigh shows the influence of a community organized to advocate for its interests. The BWRA has also assisted neighbours in navigating the City Planning department, Committee of Adjustment and the OMB on other development issues.

The BWRA launched the Wanless Park Spring Fair in May 2016 as an annual event to build a stronger sense community in our neighbourhood and as a fundraiser for future BWRA initiatives.
